Acting on intelligence inputs about a suspected terrorist hideout in the Kawala forest area of Chilla Danga, a police team led by DySP Headquarters Samba, along with the SHO Samba and In-charge Border Police Post (BPP) Chilla Danga, launched a search operation.
During the operation, security personnel discovered ammunition and explosive substances concealed in cavities within trees and rocks. The recovered items included 29 live rounds, one AK rifle magazine, and explosive powder.
“The recovery indicates that unknown anti-national elements had illegally stored these materials, likely intending to carry out terrorist acts and cause harm to life and property. This timely action has successfully foiled their nefarious designs and averted a major security threat,” police said in a statement.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 54/2025 at Police Station Samba under Sections 13, 16, and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act, and 4/25 of the Explosive Substances Act. Further investigations are underway.(KINS)
