Fresh rain, snow reduce rainfall deficit in J&K from 80% to 42%

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KINS): The ongoing wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly reduced the region’s rainfall deficit from 80% to nearly 42%, the Meteorological Department said on Friday.

According to cumulative precipitation data from February 25-28, Gulmarg recorded the highest snow depth at 113 cm, followed by Sonamarg at 75 cm.

Higher reaches of Kupwara and Bandipora registered snow depths between 70-90 cm, while South Kashmir saw accumulations ranging from 60-90 cm.

In a post on X, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar confirmed the improvement, attributing it to the recent spell of rain and snowfall across the Union Territory. (KINS)
