Pakistani terrorist killed in encounter, operation continues: SSP Handwara

Srinagar, Mar 17 (KINS): A Pakistani terrorist was killed in an encounter in North Kashmir’s Handwara on Monday, officials said.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Krumhoora, Zachaldara Rajwar area of Kupwara district.
Speaking on the development, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Choudhary, as per news agency KINS stated that after receiving inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Handwara and other security forces. “During the operation, a Pakistani terrorist, identified as Safulla, who had been active in the region for several years, was eliminated”.
The encounter began in the early hours when the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces.
The Army spokesperson also confirmed that the forces retaliated effectively, leading to the killing of one terrorist. An AK-47 rifle and a large cache of ammunition have been recovered from the site.
The operation is still underway as security forces continue search operations in the area to ensure no other terrorists are present. Further details are awaited.(KINS)
