People’s support vital to end militancy in J&K: Omar Abdullah

Jammu, Mar 24 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be eradicated without the active support of the people.

Speaking to reporters outside the assembly in Jammu before the day’s proceedings as per KINS, he reaffirmed his government’s commitment to assisting the Union Home Ministry in maintaining peace and security in the Union Territory.

Abdullah acknowledged that while security is not directly a state responsibility, the elected government is actively working alongside the Lieutenant Governor to ensure stability.

Responding to a query about the ongoing anti-terror operation in Sanyal, near the International Border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, he refrained from making immediate comments, stating that it would be premature to do so at this stage.(KINS)
