Srinagar Municipal Corporation Marks Earth Day 2025 with Call for Climate Action
Srinagar, April 22 (KINS): The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) celebrated World Earth Day 2025 with a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action. Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmed led the observance, aligning with this year’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” which underscores the collective responsibility of citizens to protect the environment and support renewable energy solutions.
As part of the day’s events, Dr. Ahmed participated in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at the SMC headquarters. The initiative emphasized the importance of afforestation in addressing climate change, improving air quality, and preserving biodiversity.
