IGP Kashmir reviews security measures, calls for strengthened vigilance across valley
Srinagar, Sep 29 (KINS): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi-IPS, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir, to assess the prevailing law and order situation across the valley. The meeting was attended by all Range DIsG, District SSPs of Kashmir Zone, and other senior police officers.
The session began with briefings from Range DIsG and SSPs on crime trends and security challenges in their respective areas. Detailed discussions were held on law and order management, ongoing anti-terror operations, public safety measures, and critical issues such as actions under the NDPS Act, preventing terror recruitment, strengthening district security grids, and property attachment against terror elements.
IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of monitoring social media to curb misinformation, propaganda, and anti-national content. On narcotics, Shri V.K. Birdi directed officers to intensify anti-drug operations, enhance surveillance on offenders, dismantle drug networks, and promote community outreach and rehabilitation as part of a holistic strategy.
A district-wise security plan was reviewed, focusing on key installations, sensitive areas, and inter-agency coordination. The IGP stressed proactive intelligence gathering, swift response to emerging threats, area domination, night patrolling, and strict surveillance on anti-national elements.
He appreciated the efforts of district officers in crime prevention, underlined the need for improving investigation quality, and urged all personnel to remain vigilant, responsive, and people-centric in their approach.(KINS)
