Srinagar, Oct 04 (KINS):In a major crackdown on terror financing and support networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar have attached property valued at approximately ₹2 crore, belonging to the family of designated terrorist Sajad Ahmad Sheikh alias Sajad Gul.
The attached property comprises a three-storey residential house built on 15 marlas of land (Survey No. 43 min, Estate Khushipora), located at Rose Avenue, HMT, Srinagar. As per official records and verification from the Tehsildar Central, Shalteng, the property is registered in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, father of the absconding terrorist.
The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 235/2022, registered under sections 13, 38, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and sections 2/3 of the EIMCO Act at Police Station Parimpora. The property attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to seize properties used or intended to be used for terrorist activities. The procedure was executed in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate.
Investigations have established that although the house is officially in the father’s name, Sajad Gul remains an active stakeholder. He has been involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-national propaganda, and inciting public disorder through various online and social media platforms.
Police officials stated that the action is part of a sustained effort to dismantle the financial, logistical, and operational infrastructure of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The move, they said, sends a strong message that any individual or entity extending support to terrorism will face stringent legal and financial repercussions, including the forfeiture of illegally acquired assets.
Reaffirming their commitment to peace and public safety, the J&K Police said they will continue to take firm action against all those aiding or abetting terrorist activities in any form.(KINS)
