Srinagar, October 07 (KINS):BJP National General Secretary and Prabhari for Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, has welcomed the release of ₹171 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme for over 8.5 lakh farmers of the Union Territory, describing it as a “timely lifeline” for those affected by the recent floods.
Chugh said the advance instalment, delivered under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, reflects the Union Government’s deep commitment to the welfare of farmers in Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed gratitude to the Union Agriculture Minister for ensuring that the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN reached beneficiaries without delay.
Highlighting the government’s broader relief and recovery measures, Chugh said that the Centre has extended MGNREGA entitlements from 100 to 150 days for rural workers in flood-hit areas, sanctioned assistance to rebuild 5,000 damaged houses under PM Awas Yojana, and ensured compensation for livestock losses. Additionally, central teams are coordinating with the UT administration to restore vital canals, embankments, and irrigation infrastructure essential for the agrarian economy.
“The swift release of funds and coordinated relief operations send a clear message that the Modi government stands shoulder to shoulder with every farmer of Jammu and Kashmir,” Chugh stated.
He added that by combining direct financial assistance with infrastructure restoration, the government is ensuring both immediate relief and sustainable recovery for rural families.
Expressing gratitude, Chugh said, “We are thankful to Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah whose leadership has ensured that the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas reaches even the remotest corners of J&K. The Centre has once again proved that no farmer will be left behind, and every household will be supported to rebuild their livelihood with dignity and strength.”(KINS)
