BJP fields candidates on 3 RS seats, aims for clean sweep: Ashok Koul
‘Not holding discussions with any party to secure support’

Srinagar, Oct 15 (KINS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir General Secretary Ashok Koul on Wednesday said the party has fielded candidates on three Rajya Sabha seats from the Union Territory and is confident of winning all of them.
“We are contesting on three seats aiming to win them all. We are contesting but not to lose,” Koul told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
Out of four Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP has nominated candidates for three, signaling the party’s aggressive strategy ahead of the polls.
Koul’s remarks come at a time when political temperatures are rising, with the National Conference (NC) and BJP intensifying their campaign.
Responding to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent statement that parties not voting for NC would ultimately benefit the BJP, Koul said the NC’s narrative was misleading. “The NC is dividing the nation. The BJP wants to unite everyone,” he said.
Koul dismissed reports suggesting that the BJP was holding backdoor discussions with other political parties to secure support. “We are not in talks with any political party. The BJP doesn’t indulge in horse trading,” he asserted.
The upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, scheduled for October 24, have become a key political contest between NC and BJP. (KINS)
