Srinagar, Oct 18 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that his government will revoke the Public Safety Act (PSA) immediately after the Union Territory regains statehood.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar as per news agency KINS, Omar Abdullah said his administration would not wait for the Assembly session but would issue an ordinance to scrap the law as soon as powers are restored to the elected government.
“When we released our party manifesto, I made it clear that several promises can only be implemented after Jammu and Kashmir regains statehood. It’s a fact that law and order currently fall under the Lieutenant Governor’s jurisdiction. However, once full statehood is restored, our government will revoke the Public Safety Act from Jammu and Kashmir,” Omar Abdullah said. (KINS)
