Srinagar, Oct 21 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday observed Police Commemoration Day across the Kashmir Valley to honour the brave martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The solemn observances were marked by wreath-laying ceremonies, commemorative parades, and tributes to the valiant police personnel whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire the force.
Across all districts, floral tributes were paid and two minutes of silence observed in memory of the martyrs. District heads read out the roll of honour of police personnel from across the country who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the nation. Gifts were distributed among the Next of Kin (NoKs) of police martyrs, and interactive sessions were held to address their concerns.
In Anantnag, the main function was held at District Police Lines (DPL), where DIG SKR Javed Matoo (IPS) and SSP Anantnag Amrit Pal Singh (IPS) took the salute. The event was attended by DC Anantnag Fakhrudin Hamid (IAS), officers from Police, CRPF, Civil Administration, and families of martyrs.
In Shopian, SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS) took the salute at the Commemoration Parade at DPL Shopian. Officers from Police, CRPF, and Army joined martyrs’ families in paying floral tributes.
In Pulwama, SSP Ms. Tanushree (IPS) led the homage by laying wreaths and taking the salute. She also inaugurated the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Kabaddi Tournament to promote sportsmanship and commemorate the valour of the fallen heroes.
Similar events were held at Kulgam, Awantipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara, and Sopore, where officers, civil society members, and families of martyrs paid rich tributes at Martyrs’ Memorials.
Police Commemoration Day serves as a solemn reminder of the selfless service, dedication, and valour of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifices continue to inspire the Jammu and Kashmir Police in its unwavering commitment to peace and security.(KINS)
