Srinagar, Nov 18 (KINS): In a major citizen-friendly move to make passport services more accessible, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Srinagar, under the Ministry of External Affairs, is deploying a Mobile Passport Van in Kargil from 19th to 21st November 2025.
The initiative, launched under the Passport Seva Project (PSP), is aimed at ensuring efficient, transparent and hassle-free passport services, especially for people living in remote and far-flung areas under the jurisdiction of the RPO Srinagar.
Regional Passport Officer B.S. Rawat said the Mobile Passport Van is a proactive step to reach underserved regions and ensure that citizens receive timely assistance without having to travel long distances. He added that the Ministry remains committed to providing convenient and citizen-centric services across the country.
During the three-day camp, the Mobile Passport Van will be stationed at:
National Informatics Centre (NIC), VC Hall New Building, near Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kargil.
Residents of Kargil and adjoining areas who wish to avail the service must book an appointment through the official website www.passportindia.gov.in. While scheduling, applicants should select “Passport Van” as the service option and choose a preferred date and time between November 19 and 21.
On the appointment day, applicants should report to the designated venue on time. For on-site support or any procedural queries, they may approach the Mobile Passport Van team operating vehicle Registration Number PB65BF1377.
The initiative marks a significant step towards decentralising passport services and bringing essential documentation facilities directly to citizens’ doorsteps, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to timely and people-oriented governance.(KINS)
