48-hour water supply disruption likely in Srinagar from April 21 due to repair works

Srinagar, April 17 (KINS): The Executive Engineer, Water Works Division Srinagar, has informed that potable water supply in several parts of Srinagar city and adjoining areas is likely to remain disrupted for around 48 hours from April 21 due to urgent repair works on the Sindh Power Canal.

According to a public notice issued by the Water Works Division Srinagar, the repair works on Sindh Power Canal Phase-III will be carried out by CMD Ganderbal on April 21 and 22. As a result, the raw water supply to the Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil will be affected.

Officials said the disruption in potable water supply is expected to begin from 6:00 AM on Tuesday, April 21, and continue till 6:00 AM on Thursday, April 23.

The areas likely to be affected as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbugh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouchpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-i-Ali Mardan Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohri Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, parts of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowpora, Nawab Bazar, Ganpatyar, Habba Kadal, Baghwanpora, Basant Bagh, Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahraj Gunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Firdous Abad, parts of Batmaloo, Qamarwari and adjacent areas.

The department has advised residents of the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance to meet their requirements during the period of disruption.

For complaints or grievances related to shortage or scarcity of water, the public can contact the Provincial Control Room of the Water Works Division Srinagar, which will remain functional round the clock.
