Srinagar, April 17 (KINS): V.K. Birdi, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess and finalize security arrangements for forthcoming events across the Kashmir Valley.
The meeting was attended by senior officers, including officials from the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Traffic Police, CID, and district police units across Kashmir.
Discussions focused on strengthening the existing security framework and improving deployment at critical and sensitive locations ahead of the upcoming events.
V.K. Birdi directed officers to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and enhance area domination in their respective jurisdictions. He stressed the need to strengthen security around vulnerable installations and major tourist destinations to ensure the safety of visitors.
He also called for strict monitoring along inter-district boundaries to prevent any suspicious movement.
Special directions were issued for traffic management in Srinagar, with instructions to implement a comprehensive plan to reduce congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles.
The IGP also reviewed preparations related to the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage and directed officers to ensure proper security, facilitation, and coordination at all designated points for the safe movement of pilgrims.
V.K. Birdi further instructed district heads to maintain strict vigilance over social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation that could affect public order.
He also directed intensified cordon and search operations in sensitive areas across the Kashmir Valley and along the national highways.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to maintain the highest level of preparedness, coordination, and responsiveness to ensure the smooth conduct of all forthcoming events.(KINS)
