NC leaders, independent MLAs to protest in Delhi for statehood, constitutional guarantees

Srinagar, June 03 (KINS): A crucial seven hour meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah concluded at Dachigam National Park on Wednesday, during which it was decided that National Conference (NC) legislators, party leaders and independent MLAs would hold a protest in New Delhi ahead of the forthcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Sources said the meeting deliberated on the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the need to press for the restoration of statehood and constitutional safeguards.
It was decided that NC MLAs, senior party functionaries and independent legislators would stage a protest in the national capital to demand constitutional guarantees and the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
The meeting, held at Dachigam National Park and chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) also discussed the future course of action to raise these demands at various political and constitutional forums.
Party leaders stressed the need for a united and sustained effort to secure the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with the proposed Delhi protest expected to be held before the commencement of Parliament’s Monsoon Session. (KINS)
