Union Education Minister reviews J&K Education programmes with Sakina Itoo, discusses steps to strengthen schools, colleges and teacher training
Srinagar, June 08 (KINS): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday held a review meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo to assess the progress of educational initiatives in the Union Territory and discuss measures to further strengthen the sector.
The meeting centred on key areas including teacher education, institutional capacity building, skill development and the overall advancement of school and higher education in Jammu and Kashmir. Both leaders also deliberated on strategies aimed at improving learning outcomes and expanding opportunities for students and young people.
Pradhan said the discussions focused on enhancing the quality of teacher education institutions and accelerating reforms to build a stronger and more inclusive education ecosystem in the Union Territory.
“Held a productive discussion with Sakina Itoo, Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
Reviewed issues related to Teacher Education Institutions and the progress of school and higher education initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir. Discussed teacher training, institutional development, skilling and other measures to further strengthen the education ecosystem.”
The Union Minister noted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed encouraging improvements in enrolment levels and educational performance in recent years. He said both the Central Government and the Jammu and Kashmir Government remain committed to ensuring wider access to quality education and improving employment prospects for the youth.
“Encouraging to note the positive trends in enrolment and educational outcomes. Through continued collaboration between the Central Government and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, we remain committed to expanding access to quality education, enhancing employability and creating greater opportunities for the students and youth of Jammu & Kashmir,” Pradhan said.(KINS)
