Jammu players win bronze Medal at North Zone Soft Tennis Championship

Jammu, June 30 (KINS): Four young players from the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre at MA Stadium, Jammu, won the bronze medal at the 3rd North Zone National Soft Tennis Championship held at Gindun Stadium, Srinagar, from June 26 to 28.
The medal-winning team included Madhavendra Singh Sambyal, Harikesh Dutt Sharma, Aditya Dutt Sharma and Vihan Parihar. They performed well against strong teams from across North India and secured a place on the podium.
The players train under international soft tennis player and Khelo India coach Indu Bhushan Padha. Their success reflects the efforts of the Khelo India Centre, the J&K Sports Council, the Department of Youth Services & Sports (Y&SS), and the Jammu & Kashmir Amateur Soft Tennis Association (JKASTA) in developing young talent.
Among the four players, 17-year-old Madhavendra Singh Sambyal has already achieved several milestones. He won silver medals at the National School Games and the Senior National Soft Tennis Championship. He is also the reigning J&K state champion and has been selected, along with his sister Sidhani Singh, to represent India at the 2nd Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championship. Apart from soft tennis, Madhavendra also won a gold medal in the Under-16 Pickleball Championship in 2025.
Harikesh Dutt Sharma has also impressed with his performances at the UT level, while Aditya Dutt Sharma and Vihan Parihar have consistently performed well in district, UT and zonal competitions.
The bronze medal is another major achievement for Jammu and Kashmir’s young players and highlights the growing success of the region in soft tennis. The team will now continue training at MA Stadium as they prepare for upcoming national and international tournaments.(KINS)
