Bandipora, August 10 (KINS): A comprehensive security review meeting was held in Bandipora on Monday to assess preparedness for the upcoming Independence Day-2026 celebrations.
The meeting was chaired by DIG North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, Vinod Kumar, IPS, and attended by senior officers from Bandipora Police, Army, CAPFs and other security agencies.
The meeting reviewed overall security arrangements for the peaceful and smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations across the district. Discussions focused on security deployment, area domination, access control, traffic management, surveillance, checking and frisking, patrolling and inter-agency coordination.
SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar briefed the meeting on the security measures already put in place and preparations for August 15. He said intensified naka checking, frisking, patrolling and area domination were being carried out at vulnerable and strategic locations across the district.
The prevailing security situation was also reviewed, with officers discussing measures to identify and secure vulnerable locations and address any emerging security challenges.
The DIG stressed the need for close coordination, continuous surveillance and timely sharing of intelligence inputs among all agencies. He directed the officers to maintain heightened alertness, strengthen security arrangements and ensure effective deployment of personnel during the celebrations.(KINS)
