J&K Weather: Heavy rainfall recorded in Jammu region

Srinagar, August 19 (KINS): Jammu and several other areas of the Jammu region received significant rainfall during the past 24 hours, with Jammu recording the highest rainfall of 88.7 mm, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
Samba received 85 mm of rainfall, followed by Kathua with 76.6 mm, Katra 48 mm and Udhampur 32.2 mm.
The Meteorological Centre has forecast generally hot and humid weather across Jammu and Kashmir from August 19 to 22, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at scattered to many places. Brief intense heavy showers are likely at a few places, particularly during the early morning and forenoon hours.
From August 23 to 27, weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers at scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.
The Meteorological Centre has advised caution as brief intense heavy showers at localised places may trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.
Farmers have been advised that they may continue harvesting and other agricultural activities while keeping local weather conditions in view.(KINS)
