Srinagar, Sept 07 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the first International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) at SKICC, Srinagar, marking a new chapter in J&K’s long-standing association with cinema.
The festival has brought together filmmakers from more than 30 countries, with over 130 films being showcased, offering audiences in Kashmir an opportunity to experience diverse stories and cinematic traditions from across the world.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the festival reflects Jammu & Kashmir’s growing presence on the global creative map and its potential to emerge as a vibrant destination for cinema and filmmaking.
He said IFFJK is a declaration of J&K’s intent to provide a welcoming platform for filmmakers, storytellers and creative talent from across the world.
The festival is expected to promote Jammu & Kashmir as a film destination while creating new opportunities for local filmmakers, artists and young creative talent.(KINS)
