Srinagar, Sep 08 (KINS): Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has said Kashmir has a wealth of untold stories, cultural traditions and inspiring personalities that could offer rich material for filmmakers.
Speaking on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) at SKICC, Ali said Kashmir remained one of the most cinematic places and expressed hope that more films featuring local stories and talent would emerge.
Referring to Laila Majnu, he said the film was deeply rooted in Kashmiri culture and remained popular in the region years after its release.
Ali said personalities such as Habba Khatoon and Kashmir’s Sufi saints could provide compelling subjects for future films. He also highlighted Kashmiri creativity and sensitivity, saying these qualities could help develop a stronger local film industry.
He said film festivals could bring more people to Kashmir and create opportunities for local filmmakers, actors and artists. Ali expressed hope that with greater support and opportunities, Kashmir could emerge as a major hub for cinema.(KINS)
