Srinagar, August 10:Mandeep Kaur IAS, Commissioner Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), together with Dr. Owais Ahmed IAS, Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), inaugurated a major plantation drive today at the Municipal Landfill Site in Achan. This initiative is a central component of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign and aims to enhance environmental sustainability in Srinagar.
The event marks the beginning of an ambitious project to plant approximately 2,000 trees across the landfill site. The plantation drive is intended to improve green cover, support environmental conservation, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier ecosystem around the landfill area.
Both Ms. Mandeep and Dr. Owais emphasized their joint commitment to fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment. The drive at the Achan Landfill Site represents a proactive effort to address ecological concerns, mitigate foul odors, and create a greener landscape.
