Apni Party to Contest Independently in J&K Elections, Fields Candidates Across 60 Seats

Srinagar, August 24 (KINS): In a significant move ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Apni Party president Syed Altaf Bukhari announced that his party will independently contest 60 seats, with 40 candidates representing Kashmir and 20 from Jammu. Bukhari ruled out the possibility of forming any alliances, stating that the party intends to stand alone in the electoral contest.
During a media interaction at Chanapora, Bukhari reflected on the setbacks Apni Party experienced during the Lok Sabha elections, where alliances had a detrimental impact on their performance. He explained that this experience shaped their decision to move forward independently in the Assembly polls. “This time, we are clear—we will fight the assembly elections on our own. There will be no alliances,” Bukhari stated, as per news agency KINS.
In his remarks, Bukhari also accused other political players of secretly forging alliances behind the scenes. He pointed to several parties, alleging that while some alliances are publicly declared, others are being arranged discreetly.
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections will be conducted in three phases, beginning on September, continuing on September 25, and concluding on October 1.(KINS)
