Doda Sep 14 (KINS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said that the upcoming assembly elections will decide the fate of Jammu and Kashmir.
This he stated while addressing an election rally in Doda district of Jammu region.
The Union territory will vote for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. It will vote in three phases between September 18 and October 5 and the results will be out on October 8.
“J&K is the state where every family is getting free healthcare up to Rs 5 lakh. It will be increased to 7 lakh. We will have direct trains from Delhi to Srinagar via Ramban. We are connecting every corner of J&K with railway,” he said in his address, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
He said the upcoming assembly elections will decide the fate of J&K.
“Central govt is working on connectivity in the state. Tourism has been flourishing again in J-K. Hotels and restaurants are opening. We will make an environment where films can be shot in J&K again. We have made a new film policy. We will provide travelling allowance for college students. There was a time when J&K’s youth was forced to move out of the state for good education. You thought they were yours, but they never thought of you as their own,” he claimed.
The Prime Minister said J&K people used to struggle even for a school, road, water tank. “You had to protest for it. For years nothing used to happen. It was a dream to open medical and engineering colleges.”
He said the BJP is committed to ending terrorism in J&K.
“We will make a white paper on Kashmiri Hindus. BJP Kashmir is making efforts to bring back Kashmiri Hindus into the valley. BJP has raised voice for the Kashmiri Pandits: PM Modi This change has not been brought by Modi, it has been done by you, the people of J&K,” he said.
“The stones that were used to attack security forces will make a new J&K now. Terrorism is breathing its last in J&K,” Modi said.
“Terrorism was normalised by the three families There was curfew as soon as sun set. Home Minister of India was scared to go to Lal Chowk,” he said.
The enemies of the nation took advantage of the three families. Thousands of children lost their lives, the PM said.
“The three families have corrupted J&K. You were made to struggle for small things. Government jobs were given only to those affiliated with the families. They looted your land. Dynasty politics has hurt J&K politics,” he added. (KINS)
