Police arrests drug peddler in Kulgam; Contraband substance recovered

September 22: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Kulgam at checkpoint established near District Hospital Kulgam intercepted a suspicious person. During search, officers were able to recover 80 grams of Charas like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wani son of Bilal Ahmad Wani resident of Mirhama. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 140/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.

General public is requested to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
