Rajnath Singh Lauds Jammu and Kashmir’s Historic Assembly Election Turnout

Jammu : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their significant participation in the first phase of the Assembly election, noting that over 61% voter turnout was the highest in three decades. He argued that the impressive voter participation illustrated the flourishing democracy in the Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370.

Singh criticized the National Conference (NC), Congress, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for urging the restoration of Article 370 in their manifestoes, labeling them as proxies for Pakistan. He noted Pakistan’s discomfort with the democratic progress in Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh highlighted the positive developments in Jammu and Kashmir post-Article 370 abrogation, including reduced terrorism and increased tourism, promising voters that the BJP would further propel the region’s socio-economic growth. Singh reiterated the BJP’s stance against restoring Article 370 while emphasizing unity, development, and justice for all citizens.
