Srinagar , Oct 22 ( KINS) The Grand Finale of the Women’s Premier League Baramulla, held at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School on October 22, 2024, was a celebration of excellence in women’s sports, featuring exceptional talent, fierce competition, and sportsmanship. Organized by the Baramulla Cricket Forum in collaboration with the Dagger Division under Op Sadhbhavna, this event has become a key platform for promoting women’s sports in Jammu & Kashmir.
In the professional category, Anantnag emerged victorious against Baramulla in a thrilling match, with Talat Raina from Anantnag earning the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance. In the amateur category, Government Girls Higher Secondary School won a close contest against DPS, showcasing the promising talent of young female athletes.
Maj Gen PS Punia, SM, VSM, GOC Dagger Division, the Chief Guest, praised the participants for their dedication and skill, awarding the winning teams with the Women’s Premier League Trophy, cash prizes, and individual accolades. Special awards recognized the Best Player of the Tournament and Emerging Player of the League across both categories.
The Women’s Premier League Baramulla is part of a broader effort to promote gender equality and empower women through sports. With eight professional teams and six amateur teams competing this year, plans are already underway to expand the tournament in future seasons by including more teams and enhancing training opportunities for aspiring female athletes.
