J&K Assembly adjourned sine die after passing motion of thanks

Srinagar, Nov 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday following the passage of the Motion of Thanks on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address.
The five-day session, which began on Monday, marked the first meeting of the Assembly since the region’s reorganization on August 5, 2019, when Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into Union territories and its special status revoked. The proceedings were marred by chaos, particularly since Wednesday, with disruptions affecting legislative activity.
Tensions escalated when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members staged protests in response to a resolution passed by the ruling National Conference (NC). The resolution called for dialogue between the central government and regional representatives to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
As the final day concluded, the Assembly passed the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address before Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather adjourned the House sine die.
