Srinagar, Dec 29 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his admiration for the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, highlighting the former Prime Minister’s significant contributions to Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is unfortunate that these fights are still going on even after Dr. Manmohan Singh’s death,” Omar Abdullah told reporters as per news gathering agency KINS, adding that he would remember Dr Manmohan Singh “only in the context of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He went on to praise the former Prime Minister’s efforts, noting, “Dr. Manmohan Singh has done a lot for Jammu and Kashmir, and hardly any Prime Minister has done so much for the region.”
The Chief Minister pointed out key achievements during his tenure, such as the development of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the four-laning project, and scholarship schemes to help students study abroad.
Omar also mentioned significant initiatives like the Cross LOC Trade, the Round Table Conference for Jammu and Kashmir, which he said were all initiated under late Dr Manmohan Singh’s leadership.
“Even the new tunnel project, which has greatly benefited Jammu and Kashmir, was a result of his vision,” Abdullah added. KINS)
