Terrorism and drug trafficking equally serious threats, says J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat
Jammu, March 6 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Friday equated the fight against drug peddling with the fight against terrorism, stating, “I would rate the fight against drugs and the fight against terrorism on an equal pedestal.”
Speaking at Thana Diwas in Jammu, Prabhat stressed the need for a collective societal effort to curb the growing menace of drug abuse. He described drug trafficking as an organized crime network, alleging that narcotics are being smuggled from western regions through the Pakistan border, controlled by ISI.
“Police and law enforcement agencies are actively addressing the issue, but society must step forward. Even schoolchildren, in uniform, are found selling small bags of drugs and other contraband substances. There is a lack of supervision and control from parents and society at large,” he warned.
The DGP called for greater community vigilance and stricter enforcement to counter the dual threats of terrorism and narcotics in the region.(KINS)
