CBK files chargesheet against doctor over ‘fake’ MCI certificate, medical degrees

Srinagar, July 3: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against a Srinagar resident accused of securing employment at a government hospital using forged medical credentials.
According to a press release issued to news agency KINS, the chargesheet in FIR No. 01/2023 under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 201 of the Ranbir Penal Code has been submitted against Numan Farooq Wani, son of Late Farooq Ahmad Wani, a resident of Abu Bakar Lane, Umarabad Zainakote, Srinagar.
He is accused of submitting a fake Medical Council of India (MCI) registration certificate along with forged MBBS and MD documents at the time of his engagement at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina.
The case, as per the handout, was initiated after the Economic Offences Wing received a complaint alleging that Wani had been fraudulently working as a doctor at SKIMS Bemina since December 2016, drawing a salary from the government exchequer based on forged documents.
The complaint further alleged that the MBBS, MD certificates and registration documents purportedly issued by the MCI and State Medical Council were fake.
“Following a detailed investigation, the charges against Wani were found to be substantiated. The Crime Branch concluded the case as proved and submitted the final charge report for judicial determination,” added the release. (KINS)
