Srinagar, Sept 02 (KINS): Amid heavy rains and adverse weather advisory, the Jammu and Kashmir government has placed all departments on high alert and directed them to take precautionary measures to safeguard lives and property.

A senior government official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the government has instructed all concerned departments to remain fully alert in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall, with the possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in high-altitude areas.

“Control rooms are active, and both the divisional administrations  are in constant touch with departments. People are advised to remain vigilant and follow advisories issued by the administration,” the official said.

The officials further confirmed that the departments have been directed to maintain readiness and ensure an immediate response in case of emergencies.

Rescue teams, disaster management units, and key departments have been asked to remain deployed in vulnerable areas.

Over the past few weeks, incessant rains have battered several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, triggering flood-like situations in low-lying areas especially of the Jammu division.

Several deaths, damage to property, and disruptions in road connectivity have also been reported, while assessments of losses are still underway.

Authorities have reassured the public that all possible measures are being taken to minimize damage and ensure safety, with both the LG administration and the elected government jointly monitoring the evolving situation.(KINS)
