J&K ACB arrests two PDD officials while accepting 50,000 bribe

Srinagar, Sept 18 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday trapped and arrested two officials of the Power Development Department’s Electric Division Pantha Chowk while accepting a bribe of 50,000.

ACB in a statement said that the action followed a written complaint alleging that the officials had demanded 50,000 for the realignment of an electric pole installed on the complainant’s land at Sempora, Pantha Chowk.

The allegations were discreetly verified by ACB, and findings established a prima facie case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, read with Section 61(2) of the BNS. Consequently, FIR No. 18/2025 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar.

During investigation, a trap team was constituted and deployed at Pantha Chowk. The accused were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant. The tainted bribe money was recovered from their possession on the spot.Further investigation is underway.(KINS)
