Srinagar, Oct 12 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Congress leadership will hold a crucial meeting this afternoon at the party headquarters in Srinagar to discuss its strategy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and assembly by-polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
Party leaders told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the meeting will be chaired by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra, and attended by senior leaders of the party.
The discussions are expected to focus on the party’s roadmap for the four Rajya Sabha seats and the Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies, where by-polls are to be held in November.
Confirming the development to KINS, senior Senior Congress leader Abid Kashmiri said, “Yes, the meeting will take place this afternoon to chalk out strategy for both the Rajya Sabha and Assembly by-polls”.
According to party insiders, the Congress has been in active discussions with the National Conference (NC) over a possible understanding for the Rajya Sabha polls.
The NC recently announced its candidates for only three out of the four seats, indicating that one seat remains open as part of ongoing talks with the Congress.The Rajya Sabha polls are scheduled to be held on October 24.(KINS)
