NIA Chargesheets Bihar Labourer for plotting with LeT to spread terror in J&K and Tamil Nadu

Srinagar, Oct 17 (KINS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against a migrant labourer from Bihar for conspiring with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other extremist groups to execute terror activities in Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu.

In a statement as per news agency KINS, the accused, Akhalatur alias Mohammed Akhlaque Mujahid, a native of Katihar district in Bihar, has been charged under Sections 196 and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13(1)(b) and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act). The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Poonamallee, Chennai.

According to the NIA , Akhalatur was employed as a labourer at a private construction site in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, and was arrested by the Kayar Police in April 2025 for engaging in anti-national activities.

Subsequent investigations by the NIA revealed that the accused was in direct communication with LeT handlers in Pakistan through cyberspace. He had allegedly conspired with them to target “Kafirs” (non-believers) in Tamil Nadu and had attempted to procure arms and ammunition to carry out a Jihadi-style attack aimed at destabilizing the country.

The agency said that timely intervention by the NIA and other security forces prevented the execution of his terror plans.

The case, registered as RC-01/2025/NIA/CHE (Akhalatur LeT and Salafi Ideologue case), remains under active investigation as part of NIA’s broader efforts to combat radicalization and violent extremism across India.(KINS)
