Mohit Sharma laid to rest with State Honours in Haryana

Srinagar, Jan 24 (KINS): The last rites of Army jawan Mohit Sharma, who lost his life in a tragic accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, were performed with full state honours at his native village Gijarod in Haryana.

Mohit’s younger brother lit the funeral pyre, while Army personnel paid him a ceremonial salute. Thousands of villagers and well-wishers joined the funeral procession.

The entire village was filled with grief as family members and residents bid an emotional farewell to the fallen soldier.

Mohit’s mortal remains reached his village wrapped in the Tricolour. Vehicles carrying the national flag and people walking alongside paid tribute to the brave jawan. Army officers and district officials were also present during the cremation.

The family said Mohit had joined the Indian Army five years ago and was married about a year back. His sacrifice has left the village in deep mourning.

The tragic incident took place on Thursday when an Army vehicle carrying soldiers plunged nearly 400 feet into a deep gorge in Doda district. Ten soldiers, including Mohit Sharma, were killed, while eleven others were airlifted to hospitals for treatment.(KINS)
