Guru Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences Sopore Celebrates World Health Day

Srinagar Apr 15: World Health Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm organised by Departments of Nursing at Guru Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences, Sopore, under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”

The programme aimed to raise awareness about the importance of evidence-based healthcare and the growing need to address mental health challenges in society.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Javaid Ahmad Mir, (Chairperson Nursing Education & Research TNAI Kashmir) who delivered an insightful address highlighting the significance of World Health Day. He emphasized the role of science in strengthening healthcare systems and shed light on the importance of mental health, urging students and healthcare professionals to adopt a compassionate and informed approach in their practice.

Dr. Salman Khursheed ( Principal Guru Nursing & Paramedical institute) also spoke on the occasion, stressing the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible healthcare professionals. He appreciated the efforts of students and faculty in organizing such meaningful events and encouraged continued engagement in health awareness initiatives.

The programme was attended by the Administrative Officer, faculty members, and a large number of students. The event was efficiently coordinated by Organizing Secretary Ms. Nargis Hassan & Ms Saima Akbar (Faculty Guru Institute of Nursing & Paramedical), whose efforts ensured smooth conduct of all activities.

A series of student-led activities added vibrancy to the celebration, including speeches, skits, and debates focused on public health issues and mental well-being. These presentations reflected the students’ awareness, creativity, and commitment to health promotion.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by felicitation of the Chief Guest, faculty members, and participating students for their valuable contributions. (KINS)
