“Message of Love, Progress and Development for J&K”: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan says 3,566.9 crore approved to connect villages with all-weather roads

Srinagar, Apr 27 (KINS): Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will on Tuesday launch a major package of rural road projects in Jammu and Kashmir under Batch-II of PMGSY-IV.

The initiative involves the construction of 330 new roads at a total cost of ₹3,566.9 crore, aimed at improving connectivity to 363 habitations across the Union Territory.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Chouhan as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is committed to ensuring inclusive development. He said he has come to Jammu and Kashmir with a message of love, progress, and development.

He stated that the approved projects will connect villages with all-weather roads, particularly benefiting people living in remote and hilly areas. “These 330 roads will link many villages, making travel easier and improving access to essential services,” he said, adding that the approval letter will be handed over to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the event in Srinagar.

The launch programme will be held at SKICC, Srinagar, in the presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary.

Officials said the new phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is expected to significantly strengthen rural infrastructure and boost overall development in far-flung areas.

Chouhan reiterated that improved road connectivity will play a vital role in accelerating growth and further integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the national development framework.(KINS)
