LG Manoj Sinha reviews security, anti-drug drive, pilgrimage preparedness with Jammu Div officials
Jammu, Apr 29 (KINS):Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Jammu Division to review the security scenario, progress of the “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan,” and preparations for upcoming pilgrimages.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, along with top civil, police, and administrative officers.
Deputy Commissioners and SSPs briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the prevailing law and order situation in their respective districts. They also provided updates on the 100-day “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan” and outlined preparations for major pilgrimages, including Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Shri Kausar Nag Yatra, and Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for seamless coordination among police, civil administration, and security forces to strengthen the overall security grid. He directed officials to regularly conduct Block Diwas and Thana Diwas to address public grievances effectively.
Emphasizing a whole-of-society approach to tackle drug abuse, he called for strict action against drug smugglers and peddlers, and asked officials to identify and dismantle narco-corridors and hotspots across Jammu Division. He also suggested conducting region-wise studies on substance abuse trends and preparing a vulnerability index using standard global methodologies.
Reviewing arrangements for upcoming pilgrimages, the Lieutenant Governor directed district administrations to undertake comprehensive preparedness measures to ensure smooth and safe conduct of the events.
He further instructed Deputy Commissioners to ensure effective implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme, focusing on rural development, healthcare delivery, and socio-economic upliftment, including 100 percent screening for non-communicable diseases.
Reiterating zero tolerance towards threats to national security, the Lieutenant Governor called for the strictest action against terrorists, their associates, and overground workers (OGWs), and directed authorities to maintain a robust and impenetrable security framework across the region.(KINS)
