Srinagar, May 26(KINS):Director General of Police J&K, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to review security arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026).
The meeting was attended by senior officers of J&K Police, CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, CISF, Traffic Police, Railways and other security agencies. Among those present were the IGP Kashmir Zone, IG BSF Frontier Headquarters Srinagar, IG CRPF Srinagar Sector, all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, DIG Railways, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIG ITBP Srinagar, DIG CISF, senior CRPF officers, district SSPs of Kashmir Zone, and officers from the Army and Airport security.
Emphasising the importance of peaceful Eid celebrations, the DGP directed officers to ensure proper crowd management arrangements at mosques and major congregation venues across the Valley. He stressed the need to strengthen security measures, regulate public movement, and deploy adequate personnel at sensitive locations to prevent overcrowding and maintain law and order.
Shri Nalin Prabhat also instructed field officers to intensify surveillance, conduct random checks in vulnerable areas, and enhance patrolling to effectively deal with any potential security threats during the festive period.
During the meeting, officers presented detailed briefings regarding the proposed security and logistical arrangements for the smooth conduct of SANJY-2026. CAPF and other security agencies also shared their assessments and highlighted the importance of close coordination and synergy among all agencies involved.
The DGP issued directions for the smooth induction and deployment of CAPF companies and instructed district heads to ensure proper arrangements for incoming personnel. He emphasised strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adoption of proactive measures to counter any potential threats during the yatra period.
He further directed field formations to intensify efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and strengthen area domination along the pilgrimage routes. Instructions were also issued for the deployment of Anti-Sabotage teams and the use of advanced surveillance systems and real-time monitoring mechanisms to enhance security and response capabilities.
The meeting concluded with all participating agencies reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the highest level of coordination, preparedness and operational efficiency to ensure the peaceful, safe and successful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.(KINS)
