J&K Apni Party Stages Protest in Mendhar Against Electricity Tariff Hike
Mendhar, Sep 11 (KINS) The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Friday staged a protest at Mendhar against the NC-led government over the hike in electricity tariffs, accusing the administration of putting an additional financial burden on consumers.
The protest was held at Yadgar Chowk, Mendhar, where Apni Party workers and supporters raised slogans against the government and demanded immediate withdrawal of the increased electricity tariffs.
As part of the protest, party workers also burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and raised slogans against the government, expressing resentment over the power tariff hike.
The protesters said the increase would adversely affect common people, particularly households and small businesses, and urged the government to reconsider the decision.
The Apni Party workers warned that if the tariff hike was not rolled back, the party would intensify its agitation in the coming days.
The protest remained focused on the electricity tariff issue, with party workers calling for relief to consumers and a review of the revised power charges.
