Srinagar, Sep 26 (KINS): Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir on Saturday organised a one-day conference at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to sensitise and activate field officers regarding effective implementation of Beat-Level Policing.
The conference was held under the chairmanship of IGP Kashmir Shri Sujit Kumar, IPS, and was attended by all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, district SSPs, SSP PCR Kashmir and other field officers.
In his inaugural address, IGP Kashmir stressed the importance of an effective, accountable and technology-enabled beat policing system as the foundation of preventive and community-oriented policing.
During the conference, Range DIGs discussed the existing status of Beat Policing and challenges in its implementation, with focus on beat structuring, crime mapping, identification of vulnerable locations, preventive measures, surveillance and coordination.
The officers also discussed standardisation of core beat duties, roles and responsibilities of Beat Officers, and adherence to prescribed protocols.
The participating district SSPs and field officers further emphasised the digitisation of Beat Books through structured data and innovative technologies. The use of CCTV networks, police databases and other digital tools was discussed to strengthen monitoring and support intelligence-led policing at the beat level.
The conference concluded with an emphasis on reviving and effectively implementing Beat-Level Policing while strengthening community engagement. Participating officers pledged to enhance field-level implementation and foster greater coordination and engagement with the public.(KINS)
