Srinagar, Sep 28 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to introduce five Bills in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday, according to the Supplementary List of Business issued by the Assembly Secretariat.
The Bills cover amendments relating to GST, salaries and allowances of ministers and legislators, legislators’ pensions, and the rationalisation and decriminalisation of certain offences.
Omar Abdullah, as Minister Incharge Finance, will introduce the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (L.A. Bill No. 12 of 2026), which seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
As Minister Incharge of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, he will introduce four other Bills.
The J&K Ministers’ and Ministers of State Salaries (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (L.A. Bill No. 13 of 2026) seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Ministers’ and Ministers of State Salaries Act, 1956.
The Salaries and Allowances of Members of the J&K State Legislature (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (L.A. Bill No. 14 of 2026) seeks to amend the 1960 Act governing salaries and allowances of members of the J&K State Legislature, along with related or incidental matters.
The J&K State Legislature Members’ Pension (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (L.A. Bill No. 15 of 2026) seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Pension Act, 1984, along with connected matters.
The fifth legislation, L.A. Bill No. 16 of 2026, seeks to amend certain enactments for decriminalising and rationalising offences with the stated objective of promoting ease of living and ease of doing business. It also proposes to repeal certain enactments and deal with matters connected or incidental thereto.
The five Bills are listed to be taken up after Item No. 3 of Monday’s business.
