Nocturnal gunfight rages in Budgam

Srinagar, February 13: A nocturnal gunfight rages between militants and goverment forces in Wathoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.

Reports reaching news agency said that a joint team of army and police launched cordon and search operation in Wathoora area after having specific input about presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter brief exchange of firing.

A senior Police official told news agency that some exchange of firing has taken place in Wathoora.

Right now no fresh exchange of firing is taking place, but we have tightened the cordon so that militants don’t escape, the officer said.(GNS)
