Kashmir Indepth Desk

Srinagar, June 9: A day after the Governor S P Malik led administration cracked its whip on the J&K’s premier financial institution—the J&K Bank Ltd—by sacking its chairman Pervez Ahmed and appointing R K Chibber as interim head, the Anti Corruption Bureau while continuing its raid on the second day has constituted 15 teams to probe the alleged illegal recruitments and several other complaints including the undue favour in NPA settlement accounts.

The ACB teams, according to reliable sources are all set to widen the ambit of its raids in Bangalore, Noida and Mumbai to found the missing links of NPA sttlement accounts.

Sources privy to the ACB’s plan told Kashmir Indepth that 15 teams headed by senior officials have been constituted to make the probe fool-proof on all fronts and the teams are conducted the probe in full swing amid raids at the locations they feel can fetch details about the alleged mass nepotism, backdoor appointments since 2016 and also the major loan scams.

“A few major cases have come to fore where in influential people were given loans worth Rs 700 crore against the meagre mortgage amount. There are also serious allegations about mass bungling in recruitment,” sources claimed.

They said a formal complaint was registered before the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) a year ago about the backdoor appointments being taken place in the J&K Bank and also the “bribery scam” as far as the posts published in various news papers in the Bank were concerned.

Sources in the ACB said that to expedite the probe, special teams are set to conduct probes in the Mumbai, Banglaore and Noida to find “missing links” of various scams pertaining to the J&K Bank.

The ACB was constituted in Jammu and Kashmir only a few months ago and it has started to perform from probing the mass irregularities in the J&K Bank. Sources in the ACB told Kashmir Indepth that as part of the probe, the president of Human Resources division and the vice president of the same division are set to face the axe. “Though HR department is primarily responsible for the recruitment, HR head and the deputy will be removed soon,” said the sources.

Pertinently, reliable sources told Kashmir Indepth that the directions to make the J&K Bank as corruption, nepotism, and favouritism free have come to the make the institution compete at the national level with “ transparency, accountability and competence.”

It is to mention here that after his removal as chairman of the JK bank, Parvez Ahmad Nengroo had said that he has no regrets for being removed by the governor administration and is open to scrutiny for each of his service.

“Absolutely no regrets.Did my job most diligently, honestly and in the best interest of the institution. Open to scrutiny on each and every transaction I have done during my two decades of functioning in the bank,” Ahmad had tweeted.
