Srinagar-Jammu highway remains closed

Srinagar : The only highway connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, remained closed since Thursday night following fresh snowfall and landslides.

A traffic department official told Kashmir Indepth over phone that vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar will remain suspended today also due to fresh landslides and shooting stones between Ramban and Ramsu during the night. He however said that efforts are on to restore traffic at earliest. He said that travelers are requested to cross check status of highway before starting their journey.

However, Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport was resumed on Saturday afternoon after remaining suspended for the past seven days due to poor visibility.
