KINS Desk

Srinagar, Mar 19 (KINS): Around 150 students who arrived from various parts of the world are being quarantined at a hotel here in the Srinagar outskirts.

As many as 150 people arrived in Srinagar from Bangladesh, England, Leh and from various parts of the world. Most of them are from district Budgam.

District Development Commissioner Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganie said all these people are being quarantined. “Who so ever is returning from any part of the world to Kashmir is being quarantined,” Ganie told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) over the phone.

However, the Srinagar Airport witnessed ruckus on Thursday after the arrival of these 150 students when their parents wanted them to take home. But authorities’ whisked all these people and quarantined at a private hospital in Shaltang.

“Parents resisted and did not want their children quarantined. But there was a heavy deployment of cops who whisked them away in vehicles. No person was allowed to go home,” an official said.
The official said medical teams have also been deputed where these people are quarantined.

However, there were reports that two Kashmiri students who returned from Bangladesh were allowed to go home without screening. (KINS)
