LMD Fine Manufacturer of Sanitisers

SRINAGAR, MAY 18:  The Legal Metrology Officer Circle -I, booked a non-local manufacturer of Hand Sanitisers for violating Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.The Central Government has declared hand-Sanitizers as essential commodity on 21st March, 2020 and has fixed a price of Rs100/- for 200 ml pack, whereas the erring manufacturer has printed an MRP of Rs 800/-for 500 ml, which aught to be Rs 250/-.

Moreover, the consumer care details were missing on the label. The Legal Notice was served  to the company for  over-charging on the product and for other violations. The management confessed the lapse and accordingly, a fine of Rs 25000/- was slapped on the company with an undertaking to comply with the Legal Metrology Laws.
