Kupwara Dec 17 (KINS): District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kupwara, Anshul Garg Thursday reviewed the arrangements for phase-VIII of the District Development Council (DDC) election and Panchayat by-election scheduled to be held on 19 December, 2020.
According to the DPEO, 01 DDC constituency viz. Wavoora is going for polls on the said date during which Sogam and Wavoora blocks will be covered.
The DPEO informed that 10 DDC candidates, 04 Sarpanchs and 62 Panchs are in fray in the constituency. He further said that 29837voters including 15609 male and 14198 female shall exercise their franchise in the Wavoora constituency.
Garg said that 101 polling stations have been established for which 308 Presiding/Polling officers have been detailed on duty.
The DPEO assured that all arrangements including security, transport and other relevant arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the election. He also said that adequate security of contesting candidates and polling booths and staff has already been beefed up in the constituency. (KINS)
