Exemplary NCC Cadet JUO Dechen Chuskit Makes History, Awarded Raksha Mantri Padak

Srinagar, January 20: In a historic moment, JUO Dechen Chuskit of 1 Ladakh Bn NCC, hailing from the remote village of Kargil, carved her name in glory as she was honored with the prestigious Raksha Mantri Padak. This outstanding achievement marks her as the first Cadet from the newly-formed UT of Ladakh to receive this esteemed award, a feat even more remarkable considering only two Cadets nationwide have been bestowed with the Raksha Mantri Padak.
JUO Dechen Chuskit’s journey to this remarkable accomplishment has been characterized by unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and exemplary contributions to the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Her receipt of the award not only recognizes individual excellence but also sheds light on the pivotal role played by the NCC in shaping dedicated and responsible citizens.
Belonging to a remote village did not deter Dechen Chuskit’s determination. In 2023, she secured a coveted spot in the Republic Day Camp contingent of the JK&L Directorate, participating in Group Song, Group Dance, Ballet, and the NIAP team, showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Ladakh. Her exceptional performance across various NCC activities, despite facing economic, social, and cultural challenges, reflects her resilience and commitment to the cause.
Dechen Chuskit’s melodic voice not only earned her accolades but also led to her selection for re-recording the NCC Song with renowned artist Mr. Shankar Mahadevan in Mumbai, representing the JK&L Directorate. Her achievements stand as a testament to the immense potential within the youth for national service and commitment.
Beyond personal accolades, JUO Dechen Chuskit continues to serve as a beacon of inspiration, motivating the youth of her village and adjoining areas to join the NCC and actively contribute towards nation-building. Her story exemplifies the spirit of dedication, perseverance, and service, setting a shining example for others to follow.
